I had just come off a 19-day Expedition with Wicked Diving, to reunite with a diving buddy who flew out for more diving adventure in Komodo National Park. Naturally, our first choice is always to dive ‘Wicked’. We booked in a 3D/2N on the CB — a floating ‘hostel’ offering the flexibility for guests to hop on/hop off. The CB is moored near the centre of the park, giving convenient access to all of Komodo’s awesome dive sites. Firstly, I would use the word ‘hostel’ loosely — this is a great boat! Huge common areas, including a massive sundeck fitted with bean bags and lounge chairs. The ‘rooms’ were individual (very comfy) bunk beds, but large, fitted with modern fans, electrical sockets for each room, and lots of storage space. The main deck had a fridge, so Bintangs and soda were always cold – a treat! No one was also left hungry – the food was tasty and filling, with enough variety.

Max, who runs the CB is a personable and funny guy who was extremely attentive and accommodating to our dive requests. Back by popular demand, we had Fauji – a Komodo native as our guide, and he delivered. Our two dives at Karang Makassar proved to be two of my top dives ever — I visited the gates to manta heaven.

Kudos to Veronica, Garfur and Jo who also made the short but sweet trip pleasant. Everyone was all smiles — a trademark of Wicked Diving’s amicable staff.

Well done with the CB!
