What a bargain!
We did not spend money on luxuries or fancy amenities, we keep the boat is simple so we an focus on what really matters – great service, marine life and the incredible scenery of Komodo National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage site. When you experience the Manta Rays at Makassar Reef or a school of Bumphead Parrotfish at Tatawa Kecil, you won’t miss that in-cabin flatscreen TV 🙂
Komodo Dragons on the Boat?
YES – but they are carved by the local villagers from local wood 🙂 Instead – you might do a trek to see real live Komodo Dragons! There park rangers will guide you through the forest where you can see Komodo Dragon nests, many different species of animal like monkeys and of course – dragons!
If you charter the boat, you can even visit them on both of the large islands of the park. When you charter the boat – you are in charge! But real dragons onboard – not allowed 🙂
Dive Komodo – Affordably
The diving – well what can we say? Komodo is among the best dive sites in the world with everything from Pygmy Seahorses to Manta Rays and Dolphins. The reefs are part of the Coral Triangle which has the greatest diversity of marine life in the world. With an incredible variety of dive sites our trips can cater to the most experienced divers wanting ripping currents to those wishing a simple snorkeling trip with wide bays and gently swaying soft corals.
Under the water, you may experience passing pelagics like Manta Rays and Sharks, amazing critters and a rich diversity of marine life. At some of the Komodo dive sites, the currents can be challenging, the water can vary from warm (27c) to quite cool (22c) and even the waves and surface currents can make these dive sites seem daunting – but it is definitely worth it. For these reasons, please choose a reputable dive operator with an eye to safety and sensible diving. The reefs are in pristine condition and the shear diversity of the species you see is (nearly) breathtaking.
Life on our Budget Komodo Liveaboard
At night we find quiet moorings in one the many bays around the park, eat our dinners, chat, enjoy the stars and make new friends. With a maximum of only 6 guests onboard, supervised by our experienced dive staff, we are able to offer a very personalised trip and friendly service with the emphasis on high safety standards, great food and diving, diving, diving… Depending on how YOU feel there are opportunities to visit the beaches, climb one of the hills…or simply do some sunbathing in this remote location.
There is one large cabin for sleeping and quiet time with individual beds for 6 people where we have fans and privacy curtains for each bed, in addition to the nearly ever-present sea breezes. Should you prefer, there is room on the upper deck to layout mattresses and sleep “al Fresco”. With no light pollution and incredible scenery the boat runs silent at night – no annoying generator.

Komodo Liveaboard Safety
While this is by no means a luxury boat – we have not skimped on safety! In addition to the radio, phones and life jackets – she also has a large life raft (which is not common in Indonesia!!!). More important are the trained crew and staff who know the waters of Komodo, know the boat and can deal with any matters that arise.
