 Please accept our apologies as the the Surin Islands are such a beautiful place. However, we do not have our own boat for one day tours, we rent spaces on another companies boat and we have no control over how the tours are run. Wicked Diving has very high standards on both safety and service, and these trips do not meet our standards – we can not guarantee the safety of our guests.

Further, our ethics do not allow us to offer these tours. There is a community of Moken who live on one of the islands. They are a culture that is far apart from that of Thailand and are not treated with the same respect as other citizens. In many ways they are treated like the Native Americans in the United States. Day trips to the Surin Islands often stop in this village to “show” the native culture. This does not involve interacting with the Moken, or doing anything more than staring and taking pictures. They are exploited and treated without respect. We can not and will not contribute to such “monkey shows” as they are called by park rangers.

Until such time as these people are left in peace and the operators can assure the safety and standards we promise our guests – we will not offer these tours, and actively warn any one seeking tours to this area to be very wary of their own personal safety, of the impact they have on the environment and of the exploitation of our fellow humans.

However – we do offer a 3 day and 2 night tours that meets our standards. Theses Surin overnight trips include use of our own longtail, a private guide and no more than 6 guests per guide.

The Surin Islands are famous for their crystalline beauty and infrequent visitors. The corals and snorkeling is the very best in Thailand, and yet few people visit. While the Similan Islands enjoy the reputation of the best diving in Thailand, the Surin Islands without doubt offer the best snorkeling. If you are staying in Khao Lak, take this opportunity to celebrate the luscious reefs of the Surin Islands.

All Wicked Snorkel guides are passionate about the aquatic realm and it shows! We do far more than just swim around – rather we point out special species, unique coral systems and even some of the rare animals that live on the islands – like the Hairy-legged crabs. Wicked snorkel trips are very family friendly and can be conducted in English, Swedish, German and Thai. Our enthusiastic staff will take care of you the whole day.

Surin Islands Marine life

So what do we see on our trips? We can never guarantee what we will see but we very often see Turtle, Rays, Moray Eels, Octopus. While Manta Rays do visit the Surin Islands they rarely come into the shallows! Turtles – Green and Hawksbill are seen pretty frequently. Enjoy the Snappers, Trevally, Jacks, Sweetlips, Angelfish, Bannerfish, Barracuda, and hundreds of species more. Not to mention the dozens of hard coral species, soft corals, sponges and more.
