Our internships give you the chance to get extensive training and mentorship while diving on some of the most famous dives sites in SE Asia. You will live and train in Khao Lak – base for diving to the Similan Islands, RIchelieu Rock, Surin Islands, incredible lake diving and even the Burma Banks! Digital Aquatic will empower you with all of the skills needed to produce professional underwater videos. 

Imagine diving with Manta Rays and Leopard Sharks while on a liveaboard travelling through the  uninhabited Similan Islands of Thailand. Schools of Barracuda pass by as you zoom in on divers undergoing training or simply enjoying their time aboard your liveaboard. Passing the days this way – building a film of each trip. When the trip is over – you can present a complete video of their journey, of the experiences and encounters that make the Similan Islands so famous. Couples, individuals and families all take a copy home with them – of your movie!

Our scuba diving Video internship makes this possible – combining courses, extensive underwater videography training and selling and presentation skills, giving you all the tools you need to work as a professional underwater videographer anywhere in the world.

Underwater Video Internship Details

Scuba Videographer Internship Requirements:
To join the internship you need to be Rescue Dive qualified and have 30 logged dives. If you do not have this experience – we can arrange great discounts on Similan Liveaboards and Daytrips to give you the necessary dives and confidence to join the course. If you have not dived for more than six months, you will need to have a skills review first.

The videography course will cover:

• How to assemble the equipment
• Camera skills including shot selection and contrast
• Equipment maintenance
• Video editing which includes adding a soundtrack, cropping, cutting and pasting of footage etc
• Selling / dealing with clients and potential clients
• Safety while creating films
• Minimizing impact on the marine environment while filming
• Marketing techniques

Underwater Videography, Media Skills & Training
Week 1 and Week 2 are intense immersions into the world of underwater videography.

Week one:
Your 1 on 1 tutoring takes place in our classroom and editing suite, on land as you test and try different techniques and styles, on daytrips to local sites as you plan shoots and story lines and then join a liveaboard through the Similan Islands.
Orientation to Video equipment, housings, editing software and storyboarding (planning the video shots) are all part of the course work on land.
The entire week will be under the direct supervision of a working videographer – experiencing the life you can one day lead.

Week 2:
Taking all the basic skills you have acquired, we now refine your skills into a much higher level. We will work more closely in the editing suite. Not only planning shots, but looking at previous footage to see your areas of competence and ways you can improve.
We will take the opportunity to visit several local dive sites in varying conditions to get a feel for different methods of filming. The real highlight? A Similan Liveaboard where your footage and that of your mentor/instructor will be combined to create a trip film that will be offered for purchase by the guests!

We offer the option of the 2 Week Silver Package – as listed above, or you may opt in for the Professional Package of an additional 2 weeks of mentoring, diving and actual work on Similan liveaboards and daytrips as well as accommodation. Ask us about this option
