Specialty Course Nitrox
Longer bottom times – safer dives
Diving on Nitrox (also called Enriched Air Nitrox) has become very common these days. Nitrox divers use a gasmix that has less Nitrogen and more Oxygen. There are many benefits to diving with Nitrox: Longer bottom times for example, which allow you to stay longer at certain depths, ideal for exploring wrecks or divesites that are submerged. Another advantage is that, compared to diving on normal air, your body will absorb less Nitrogen. This is ideal when you are diving on a liveaboardtrip or when you are doing a few daytrips in a row. Compared to the divers that use air, you will notice that your computer will allow you to stay longer at a certain depth. Some people even fill less tired after a dive when diving on Nitrox.
- Perfect divesites to dive on Nitrox
- Course can be done in combination with liveaboard or daytrips
- Course can be done with SSI or PADI
Wicked Nitrox Specialty – 1 day / 2 dives
In your Enriched Air Nitrox course you learn all the important theory for planning dives on Nitrox in a safe way. Your exposure to Oxygen becomes very important and a fundamental part of the course is to learn to analyze your Nitrox tank and determine the maximum depth you are allowed to dive with that mix. Topics covered in the theory are:
- Introduction to Nitrox
- Your body and Nitrox
- Your equipment and Nitrox
- Planning your Nitrox dives
2 Nitrox dives included
The theory takes about half a day. There is a manual, DVD and a lecture from your instructor. During the course you will also make two dives on Nitrox with a mix between 30% – 40%. Once you have finished the course you will receive your Nitrox Certification which allows you to obtain Nitrox fills with mixes up to 40%. If you don’t have your own dive computer, we will lend you one during the dives. It is also possible to do the course without the dives, but that is not quite as much fun.
What’s included in the price?
The course price is in addition to our 5 Day Similan Liveaboard, our 3 Day Similan Liveaboard or Daytrips and includes: Use of 2 nitrox tanks – certification
All Courses are to the strictest training standards and we will cut no corners. Courses are done with SSI (Scuba Schools International), unless otherwise noted. The same course can be conducted as a PADI Nitrox Specialty course – but there will be a surcharge as PADI requires the purchase of the books and materials as part of the course – SSI does not. Otherwise there is no difference in standards or safety between the two systems.
