|
For the diver who wants to experience the islands above and below the water – this is it! We feel that the remote Similan and Surin Islands are not just to be seen underwater, so we visit the beaches, the jungles and explore the region in addition to our Similan Diving Adventures. Our relaxed pace caters to guests seeking a rich encounter with the world, not just focused on diving all day. Check our trip schedule to see which trip suits you.
These trips are for all skill levels of divers (our staff are all instructors) and easily accomodate those with 5 dives or 500. Our groups are divided in a maximum of 4 divers per guide and each group is planned to accommodate divers of similar skill level. You will not only get the personal touch of small groups, but the sense of ease and comfort which our guides supply makes these Similan tours far beyond a simple dive trip.
These are NOT luxury trips! With a traditional Phinisi schooner you are actually in a piece of history – not a luxury boat. In our emphasis on reducing the environmental impact of our trips we have several unique options – sun-heated gravity-fed showers, low volume toilets, biodegradeable shampoos and soaps as well as low impact diving. We have chosen to offer our guests the silence and relaxation of having a “silent” boat at night, so no generator or engines running (except during transit) so we do not offer air-conditioning. With battery powered fans, custom made cross-ventilation systems and the breezes off the Andaman sea, this has not proved to be a issue for any of our guests – rather most people prefer the luxury of sitting silent in the middle of the ocean 🙂
Our 5 Day Similan Liveaboard trips are offered to enjoy the world, not escape from it. Rather than offering luxuries like TV, aircon, or wireless internet while located in these remote locations, we prefer the luxuries of human interaction. Having our boats set up the way we do, it encourages everyone to gather in the common area which the source of the majority of the complements of our guests. We know that you can go diving with anyone, but that you chose Wicked Diving because our staff strives to make each trip the most memorable it can be by creating an amazing group atmosphere and creating friendships that last well past the end of the voyage. And while we might not have things like aircon, we do supply some very nice amenities – from our handmade organic soaps (locally made) to the massive sun decks for relaxing, there is plenty to make these trips adventurous, fun and memorable.

5 Day Similan Island Liveaboard Safety
With safety features you’d expect on huge luxury boats – and some you might not! We have satellite phone, radar, depth finders, liferaft, life jackets (including childrens sizes) as well as radios, depth finders and of course GPS.
Wicked Diving offers a unique opportunity to benefit the local community, improve the world around us and have a great diving vacation! We use 2% of all income to support local projects that support the local community, marine research or marine conservation (or all three!). When you dive with Wicked, you make a difference. Please read up on our various projects, and policies on the Ethical Diving page. Did you know the eggs on your trip will be from free-range, organically fed chickens? And the Honey and Jam will be from the Baan San Fan Orphanage? Or that the Soap you use helps support tsunami survivors?
Marine Life to expect on the 5 Day Similan Liveaboard
All of it! Yup – you will visit almost all the famous sites in the region. You can expect to experience almost everything we have to offer! The giants – Manta’s and Sharks, as well as the reef creatures – Turtles and rays. The wee critters and the giant visitors – this is THE trip for the marine life enthusiast.
There are thorough briefings before each dive and an extensive marine safety and environmental briefing at the start of the trip. In addition our experienced and safety orientated staff will guide you to some amazing scenes – vast forests of soft corals, whole fields of corals and even show you a few incredible animals you would never expect! The Wicked Dive Team also love to have a laugh and often we end up doing all kind of games in the evening when the diving is done.
There are nice long surface intervals in between the dives. We do offer night dives, though not every night. Instead we plan our days to make sure we have at least one exciting non-diving activity. We try to visit at least two beaches on the Similan Islands and one beach on the Surin Islands – one of which is a beach clean-up. So when you are not diving or eating, feel free to relax, join a beach trip or do a bit of snorkeling in the calm bays. It’s all up to you….Why Not book your 5 Day Similan Liveaboard right now?

5 Day Similan Island Liveaboard Dive sites
There are dozens of dive sites in the Similan and Surin Islands, but these are just a select few of the dive sites we will visit. Each trip will be tailored to fit our guests needs, the weather and – of course – where the best marine life is at that particular time!
Elephant Head Rock – aka Hin Pusar (between Similan islands #7 and #8): Get ready for one of the biggest boulders you have ever seen under water. It consists of enormous rocks stacked on top of each other, creating a beautiful landscape and great swimthroughs. You can often see big groups of trevally hunting for fish and its a good site to see barracuda, giant moray eels and mantis shrimps.
Breakfast Bend (Similan Island #9): This beautiful reef dive around Koh Bangu, the northernmost of the Similan Islands. On the 5-day Similan Liveaboard we often experience leopard sharks, turtles and maybe the elusive shovelnose ray. The scenery is spectacular, and we are usually fortunate enough to have a current that takes us drifitng along this reef.
Shark Fin Reef (Similan island #3): A massive boulder dive with a good chance to see leopard sharks and rays. Usually very good visibility and sometimes a current so a good place to make drift dives.
Anita’s Reef (Similan island #5-6): One of the best reef dives in the Similans, suitable for all levels. There is reef, there are boulders and there are white sandy bottoms with big groups of garden eels.
East of Eden (Similan island #7): On the East side of island #7 you find one of the most beautiful reef dives in Thailand. This is many divers favourite and we have to agree… It’s like you are in an aquarium. No Similan Liveaboard is complete without a visit! You can find giant seafans in the deeper parts and colorful soft corals in the shallows.
West of Eden (Similan island #7): This dive site has rapidly become the favourite among our Liveaboard staff. It is a beautiful site with loads of small and rare critters. On some dives we have seen frogfish, ghostpipefish, mantis shrimp, ribbon eels, longnose hawkfish and purple fire gobies all on one dive.

Koh Bon: Koh Bon is one of the better places to see manta rays. With wing-spans sometimes in excess of five meters they are spectacular creatures to behold! Last season has been very good with Manta Rays almost everyday from mid-December until May. Of course it’s no guarantee, but Koh Bon has plenty of other marine life with big schools of fusiliers, sea snakes, octopus and lionfish.
Koh Tachai Plateau: Koh Tachai is a stunning site. A collection of submerged rocks which begins at 12 meters and extends beyond 35 meters to a vast sandy area. To the south of Koh Tachai island this site lies exposed to strong tidal currents which can often make the dive a rather lively if challenging one.
Richelieu Rock: Richelieu Rock is Thailand’s premier dive site and one of the best places in Thailand to see big pelagics like Whale Sharks and Manta Rays. This huge pinnacle climbing from the depths of the Andaman Sea attracts scuba divers from around the world. Huge fish, soft corals and an incredible array of small fish make Richelieu famous around the world. There is so much to see on this site, that we often spend 2 or 3 dives here.
