Our experienced instructors will teach you all the basics of Scuba Diving in a fun, relaxed and safe 4 day course. During your open water course you will learn all the necessary theory and waterskills to become a confident diver. At the end of the course you will receive the Open Water Diver certification, which is recognized throughout the world and allows you to make great dives wherever there is water, rent dive equipment and continue your training. You can choose to do your course with SSI or PADI.
The course is build up in three parts: Theory and Confined exercises (day 1-2) and Diving (day 3-4)
Theory is done in our A/C classroom and you will study the Open Water Manual, watch DVD’s and listen to the explanation of our instructors. There is even an exam at the end, but don’t worry, if you have done your homework it won’t be a problem. Manuals, DVD’s and exams are available in different languages and our instructor team is extremely multilingual. You can even start the theory at home with our online training service for free.
Confined exercises means you go into the swimming pool and practice all kinds of skills on the surface and under water. Using a swimming pool for this is an ideal way to get used to the equipment and the amazing feeling of being able to breath and float under water. You will have calm conditions and we take plenty of time to practice everything until you are comfortable and ready to make you real dives.
In the last two days of the course we make two daytrips and a total of four open water dives to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 ft). During these dives we will practice and repeat a few of the exercises done in the pool, but most of the time you will be moving over beautiful coral reefs, surrounded by fish in all colors and sizes. If you are lucky, you might even see a turtle or a shark on one of your first dives. The first two dives are made by longtail on a local reef that is perfect for training dives. The last day we do dive 3 & 4 in the Similan Islands. These islands have some of the best dive sites in South East Asia with warm waters that are extremely rich in marine life. Anything is possible, from small colorfull clownfish to massive manta rays. Because the islands are quite a distance our of the coast the water is clear and we have excellent visibility all year round. A great place to make your first dives! Daytrips to the Similans are done by comfortable and fast speedboats, which allows you to spend a nice long lunchbreak on one of the bright tropical white sand beaches and be back in time for a beautiful sunset. If you would like to do all your dives in the Similans, you can upgrade your Open Water Diver package.
What’s next?
Well, after you have finished your course, you probably want to spend the rest of your holiday underwater in the Similans. Theory is done, all skills are completed, so time to go fundiving. You will notice that there is still a lot to learn and much much more to see down there so every dive you make will add on to your experience. Or you might even consider going for the Advanced course, an easy practical course (no DVD’s and exam!) in which we go a bit deeper and get you even more comfortable by doing an extra 6 dives. It’s your holiday, you decide….
