This Trip is not for beginning divers or those seeking luxury!!! This is 10 days of remote travels with no phones, no radios and no news. Please understand that we must be selective and cautious in who joins these trips. You must be comfortable spending this much time in remote places, on a sailing schooner with like minded travellers. We ask that our guests be comfortable on boats (not prone to seasickness) as we will pass through many weather patterns. While this trip is not necessarily for hardcore divers – the conditions we encounter are totally unpredictable (did we mention unexplored dive sites?) and each guest should be prepared for such. As such we ask that each guest have 50 dives and feel comfortable in currents.
Dragons, Volcanoes, Deserted Islands
Our (very) tentative Itinerary
Day 1 – Depart Labuan Bajo in the afternoon. Then embark to the Komodo National Park where the first dive will be in the northern Komodo area around Sebayor Kecil with a nice relaxing reef dive. This will allow everyone to get comfortable back in the water with nice calm conditions. Our second dive will be a night dive in a bay with nice calm waters.
Day 2 – The second day near Gili Lawa Laut Island just north of Komodo Island is filled with some great pelagic action. White tip and grey reef sharks, schools of giant trevally, tuna, and much more. Be prepared for some strong current on these dives as this is where the big stuff lives. We may choose to do four dives in this area or move on to another great night dive on the east side of Komodo Island.
Day 3 – We will start the day with a nice trek on Komodo Island looking for the world famous Komodo Dragons. The trek will take approximately one hour with a couple small hills as we come across some spectacular scenery and the chance to take some great photos. We will continue the day with three dives around Padar Island in some colder water where the macro life and amazing reefs will provide some incredible memories.

Day 4 – This day is devoted to the macro life and stunning reefs around Nusa Kodeand Rinca Islands. With three day dives and one night dive we will look for frogfish, pygmy seahorses, zebra crabs, orangutan crabs, pipefish, nudis and much, much more. These dives will be in colder water again but with all the life in this area you will hardly notice the temperature. You will be amazed as the wildlife passes by, dragons on the beach, monkeys, deer and wild pigs full of activity along the shore.
Day 5 – Manta Alley, the name says it all. On the southern tip of Komodo we will be in cold water, anywhere between 20 to 25 degrees. In this area we hope to spend two or three dives with Manta Rays, bump head parrotfish, turtles and on the very rarest of dives we have seen Mola Mola in this area, then up north to Gili Banta for a nice warm water night dive in the bay.
Day 6 – We will start the day with a dive at the volcanic Island of Sangeang, surrounded by black sand that gives an entirely different feel to the trip. This black sand makes the corals and marine life really “pop” out and the colors are amazing. While this is a great place for macro – it is also home to one of the most unique dives in the world! There are underwater hot springs that bubble up through the sand – making this a haven for some truly unique encounters.
Day 7 – The first dive of the day will likely be around Satoda with more incredible macro life: seahorses, cowfish, frogfish, pipefish, snake eels and more. Then we are off to Moyo Island where we see massive fish like Manta Rays and tiny critters like neon colored nudibranchs.
Day 8 – Lombok. We visit a coupled of “Secret dive sites” here. While there are dive centers on the nearby Gili Islands, they overlook several incredible sites nearby that offer some of the best macro in the region. Pygmy seahorses, pipefish, incredible nudibranchs and much more.
Day 9 – visiting the incredible Liberty wreck off Bali we also seek out some incredible macro life that is often overlooked by the thrill seekers. From Pygmy seahorses to the leafy scorpionfish to the hundreds of blue ribbon eels. This doesn’t mean we’ll miss out on the massive fish too! Huge jacks, barracuda and more. This ends our diving with a real thrill as this site is such a different site than what has been experienced so far! After a few dives here, we head down to Benoa and a night back on land in a hotel – allowing everyone time to decompress and prepare for further flights and adventures.
Day 10 – Farewells and tears as the trip ands and people depart to our respective homes.
