Home Getting To Khao Lak Flights

Flights

Phuket is a large International Airport.. Beside being a large European Tourist destination, you can easily arrange connecting flights from Bangkok, Hong Kong, Australia, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. While the larger airlines of Euorpe fly to Phuket, there are also several budget options – Like Airasia.com

We don’t want to wax lyrical about the negative impact of flying on the environment, particularly as we know that without flying we wouldn’t be able to welcome so many guests,or be here ourselves. However, as an ethical dive centre we do want to offer you a top tip on planning your trip here and the opportunity to minimise the impact of flying and offsetting your flights locally.

Wicked’s Top Tip to flying – a direct long haul flight has a lower impact on the environment than a long haul flight and short haul transfer (all other factors the same). So, if you can, fly direct to Phuket rather than get connecting flights. Or if you’re in Bangkok, jump on a bus to transfer. The buses are overnight, comfortable and convenient…and a great deal cheaper! Plus they will drop you off directly in front of our shop!

Phuket Airport is also only 75 KM South of Khao Lak! That’s less than one hour away, as we are connected by a very scenic and rapid road. Please allow us to arrange your transit between Phuket Airport and Khao Lak.

Phuket Airport

Immigration
If you fly International direct, please expect a long customs/immigration wait – as long as 1 hour! Phuket Immigration officers are notoriously grouchy. If you arrive from a domestic flight you should be able to walk right out the door minutes after landing.

Inside the Phuket airport domestic terminal there is a Burger King and a another small fast food joint. A couple of crap-shops (sorry – wonderful tourist shops) and a very limited newstand are inside. So we’ve often found it more entertaining and interesting to wait in the arrivals area.

Inside the International Lounge there is NO ATM – so bring at least some change for snacks and such. There is a limited newstand, a couple coffee shops and 2 or 3 fast food places and a pay-as-you-go lounge.
