Liveaboard – Even 6 days wasn’t enough!

We went on the 6 day Similan/Richelieu liveaboard and couldn’t be happier about the experience. This was our 2nd time on a liveaboard, and we can’t wait to return. There was superb organization and communication starting with the first e-mail and following through the whole trip. Wicked is very customer centered – we always felt like we were treated as individuals, and the divemasters and staff all tried their best to meet our specific needs/wants. They were extremely safety conscious, more so than most other dive shops we’ve gone with.

The diving was wonderful. Visibility was mostly 15-20 meters or more and the variety was impressive. The pace was perfect for us – slow and easy with lots of time to stop and look at things. We generally dove a different site each time, but this was flexible based on conditions. We did a repeat dive at the site where we saw a couple of mantas, and saw them again!

Food was plentiful, and ranged from good to excellent (but overall amazing for a dive boat). In addition to a full breakfast, lunch, mid-afternoon snack (mango sticky rice – mmmm) and dinner, there was fruit, yogurt, cereal, and juices always available. Breakfast included an egg dish (fried or scrambled), toast, great potatoes, beans and bacon. Lunch and dinner was also buffet style, with about 3 different dishes served each time (lots of different, fresh and very delicious Thai selections).

The boat crew was terrific, always very helpful when we were gearing up for a dive.

We reserved one of the two double rooms and liked it a lot. It was very comfortable and well laid out. The only small issue was that it was not on the same deck as the bathrooms, so that was a small inconvenience (a tradeoff for the bigger bed?).

Special thanks to Dan (an amazing divemaster) and Alex (our DMT)
