we visit the Similan Islands every day on our speedboat. With so many dive sites, you can go for several days and see something new every day. This gives you the opportunity to do some great diving and still sleep at your resort each night. We do two dives, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. If the weather cooperates, we will have you back in your resort by 4:30 – time for a shower, nap and sunset drinks. What a life!

So What? The Similan Islands have some of the best diving Thailand has to offer! (we also ofer Richelieu Rock Day trips and visits to Koh Bon and several Khao Lak Dive Sites) No one is allowed to live there, the corals are in great shape and some of the most amazing creatures in the world call this home! Located far enough offshore to avoid pollution, and close enough to the continental shelf to attract migrating marine life – there are few places int he wordl with this much diversity in one location. The Similan Islands are located about 52 kilometers Directly West of Khao Lak. Via speedboat the trips is 70 minutes. As Khao Lak is the closest point of land, there is no beter place to be if you wnat great diving, beautiful beaches and world class resorts.
The Similan Islands, located about 50 Kilometers West of Khao Lak, are composed of nine granite islands washed by a clear blue tropical ocean and blessed with some of the world’s finest beaches. One of the most fantastic characteristics of the islands is that they have two entirely different types of environments in one destination. The rocky slopes of the Western Islands are barren and feature massive boulders and wind swept trees. The Eastern Side features the famous white sand beaches and coral reefs. The continental shelf is located about 15-20 km West of the Similans.
The diversity of Dive Sites can be intimidating. You should know that the water is usually 27-28 Celsius year round, visibility only drops below 20 meters during plankton blooms and the currents are gentle except for the strong tides directly after a full moon and New moon. We require everyone to have and know how to use a safety sausage.
As all our Similan Day Trips have dive guides, we take care of all the dive planning and control. With so many sites, you will find that beginning divers can be dropped off at one of the Reefs and 200 Meters away the experienced divers will be cruising to 30 meters between huge boulders.
We recommend doing at least two days diving so that you can several examples of different sites and ecosystems.
Many amazing creatures are seen here including Nudibranchs, Pipefishes, Pleurobranchs and Mantis shrimps, Sea Snakes, Leopard Sharks, Schools of snappers, Sweetlips, Moray Eels, Shrimps and Crabs.
In the deep Western dive sites look for pelagics like Sharks, Barracuda, Snappers and even Manta Rays.
On the Eastern Coral reefs, look for Turtles, Rays and hundreds of other species of reef fish.
We will pick you up at your resort and drive you to the pier. We try to depart by 8:30 Am, with a little more hour travel time on the speedboat. We do have snacks, but recommend having a breakfast before we pick you up. Our first dive is usually conducted on the deeper sites of the West coast, so Keep an eye on your computers. Afterwards we visit one of the beaches for our famous Thai Buffet Lunches. Our surface intervals are usually 2 hours, so why not join us for a wlak through the jungle, or visit one of the famous viewpoints?
The Second dive is usually conducted on Eastern coast – coral reefs. On this dive we aim for time, not depth – 60 minutes dives! Afterwards, we offer some refreshing fruits on the return journey home. If all goes well, we will have you back in your resort by 5:30 – time for a shower, nap and sunset drinks. What a life!
